Finland | Bridging the Gap in Northern Europe: RL-Traktorikone Empowers Finnish Farmers with FJD Autosteering Solutions

The agricultural landscape of Finland is a study in resilience. Situated in the far north, Finnish farmers contend with a short growing season and a climate that demands both grit and high-level efficiency. It is a region where the Lindvall family has been a pillar of the community for three generations, operating the machinery company RL-Traktorikone Oy.

Founded in 1994, RL-Traktorikone has spent nearly 30 years representing global giants like New Holland and Case IH. However, at the FJDynamics Global Dealer Conference 2026 in China, it became clear that the next chapter of Finnish farming isn't just about the heavy iron—it’s about the intelligence guiding it. We spoke with Juha-Pekka Takku to discuss how this family-run business is bridging the gap between traditional machinery and the digital frontier.

A "Surprisingly Positive" Evolution in the Field

Finland's 44,500 agricultural holdings are evolving. While dairy and livestock still dominate the economic landscape, the average farm size is growing, and with it, the need for cost-effective automation. Juha-Pekka, who has worked with FJDynamics for two years, noted that the impact has been immediate and wide-reaching.

"Our experience with FJD products has been excellent," Juha-Pekka shared. "They fill the gap because the branded products are very expensive. With these product lines, we have had the opportunity to reach a much bigger number of farmers."

Perhaps the most unexpected trend in the Turku and Salo economic areas has been the surge of interest in harvest automation. While autosteer is common in tractors, Finnish farmers are now looking to optimize their short harvest windows with high precision.

"One interesting area has been that we have been able to install quite many combines with FJD systems," Juha-Pekka remarked. "That has been a surprisingly positive thing—that even with the combines, they are now wanting to have autosteer."

New Discoveries in a Tough Market

Attending the global conference in China for the first time, Juha-Pekka found himself impressed by both the scale of the operation and the specific technological nuances of the 2026 product lineup. In a market where precision farming is "just in the beginning", small features can make a massive difference in user adoption.

"Quite interesting was the voice guidance with the autosteer system," he noted. "This big frame and the voice guidance surprised me a little bit, and I was pleasantly looking at that." These user-centric features are vital for Finnish farmers who must manage soil, climate, and plant health data via IoT sensors under challenging weather conditions.

After reviewing the upcoming global strategies, Juha-Pekka expressed confidence in FJD's trajectory. "It looks like you (FJD) have been able to develop product ranges which are in high demand in the nearest years. I believe that you (FJD) have a good chance to survive and make it in a tough market."

The Power of Honest Leadership

In a world of corporate polish, the Finnish delegation found something refreshing in the leadership at FJDynamics. For Juha-Pekka, the highlight of the conference wasn't a piece of hardware, but a moment of candor from the stage.

"For my favourite part of the conference, I think it was the FJD CEO's honest speech," Juha-Pekka reflected. "I think he’s honest when he’s saying that this is a tough business and a tough world, and you have to choose where your strong sides and competitiveness are. He honestly admitted that it’s not the social mingling—it’s pressing hard for the target. I appreciate his openness."

This "no-nonsense" approach resonates well with the Finnish spirit, where hard work and food security are cornerstones of the national strategy. As the agricultural sector faces economic and environmental challenges, having a partner that focuses on raw competitiveness rather than fluff is a significant advantage.

Taking the First Steps in the Nordics

Finland currently dedicates over 14% of its land to organic farming, a figure that is growing rapidly. Precision technology is the key to maintaining these sustainable farming practices while remaining competitive. Juha-Pekka sees RL-Traktorikone as the essential guide for this transition.

"Precision farming is just in the beginning in the Nordic countries and we are taking the first steps," he explained. "There is a lot of field to work, and that’s probably the main thing—that we want to be together with FJD introducing Nordic farmers to precision technology."

Looking Ahead

As the conference drew to a close, the focus shifted to the future. While this was Juha-Pekka’s first journey to China, the bridge built between RL-Traktorikone and FJDynamics is already sturdy. The exchange of views with other global dealers provided fresh perspectives on how to build a more resilient market back home.

When asked if he would return next year, Juha-Pekka hinted at the enduring family nature of the business. "Of course, the owner of the company couldn't make it this time. So let's see if it's his turn to come next."

Whether it is Juha-Pekka or the company owners returning in 2027, one thing is certain: the partnership between FJDynamics and RL-Traktorikone is set to continue bringing smarter, more affordable, and more precise solutions to the hard-working farmers of Finland.
