Cheap autosteer for older tractors means more than finding the lowest purchase price. It means matching a guidance system to the tractor you own, the work you perform, and the level of control you need. Comparing installation, signal choices, steering hardware, required accessories, and ongoing services can reveal the likely total cost before you buy.

Older tractors may still have useful power, familiar controls, and years of service ahead. Adding modern guidance can update field operations without replacing the entire machine. The evaluation should begin with the tractor and its work, not with a feature list.

What affordable autosteer should include

The approved product brochure does not provide product, package, installation, subscription, or dealer pricing. Actual pricing may therefore depend on the quoted package, machine-specific accessories, correction service, installation requirements, and local dealer. Request an itemized quote rather than comparing display or base-system prices alone.

Review these areas:

  • Steering method: Determine whether an electric steering wheel or another supported approach suits the tractor.
  • Required components: Confirm whether the quote includes the terminal, GNSS receiver, steering hardware, angle sensor, radio antenna, cables, brackets, and any machine-specific accessories.
  • Signal options: Identify the satellite, radio, cellular, or correction signals available for the farm.
  • Operating voltage: Confirm that the tractor's electrical system meets the stated requirements.
  • Implement connections: Check how the terminal will work with any ISOBUS equipment in use.
  • Installation and support: Include mounting, calibration, software setup, training, and ongoing assistance in the comparison.
  • Future upgrades: Consider whether additional functions or upgrade packages may be relevant later.

A lower initial quote may not be the lowest-cost option if necessary hardware, services, or installation work are excluded.

An older tractor does not automatically rule out newer guidance technology. The key questions are whether it can accommodate the required steering hardware, electrical connections, sensors, and mounting arrangement. Compatibility must be confirmed for the specific tractor and configuration.

How the FJD AT2 MAX approaches the upgrade

The FJD AT2 MAX is described in the approved product material as an all-in-one navigation kit for agricultural machinery. Its listed basic configuration includes a control terminal, GNSS receiver, electric steering wheel, angle sensor, and radio antenna. This listed configuration does not establish final compatibility or total installed cost for every older tractor. Machine-specific accessories, mounting components, services, or a different steering connection may still be required.

The brochure states that hydraulic tractors and sprayers can use multiple access ports when relevant accessories are added. An electric steering wheel provides another possible installation route, but the appropriate setup depends on the individual machine.

The control terminal has a 12.1-inch capacitive touchscreen with 1280 by 800 pixel resolution. It supports guidance lines and tramlines for straight, curved, pivot, and mixed routes, as well as vehicle-position and guidance-line translation.

Automatic U-turn planning is also listed. The brochure states that it can reduce operating distance by up to 30% compared with manual turning. This is a product-stated maximum comparison, not a guaranteed result for every tractor, field, crop, or operator.

Signals, accuracy, and field conditions

The brochure lists radio, satellite, and 4G among the signals received by the control terminal. The GNSS receiver supports GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo, and SBAS signals.

The product material also references free PPP and SBAS, along with RTK accuracy. Ask which correction method, service availability, antenna arrangement, and operating conditions apply to the intended location. The brochure does not provide the service costs needed for a total-cost comparison.

Field shape also matters. The system supports straight, curved, pivot, and mixed routes. For polygonal fields, the brochure describes selectable inflection points for diagonal harrowing and headlands generated from field boundaries.

Display and data functions to review

The 12.1-inch display supports split-screen viewing. The product material states that the system can display ISOBUS UT in full screen, show up to 24 sections simultaneously, support four-screen layouts, and provide a mini navigation window.

The system can also connect to FMS. The brochure describes real-time data transfer for viewing fields, vehicles, implements, tasks, operational records, and multi-task workflows. GIS data transfer is listed as another capability.

These functions may be useful for operations that need implement information and guidance visible together, but they should be weighed against the work the tractor actually performs.

Ask for clear answers to the following:

The brochure lists a 9-36V operating voltage for the control terminal and GNSS receiver. It also describes support for ISOBUS functions including UT, TC-BAS, TC-SC, TC-GEO, and AUX-N. These are useful starting points, but compatibility still requires confirmation for the tractor and implement combination.

Upgrade packages are listed for moving supported AT2, AS2, and AH2 systems to the AT2 MAX. Existing system owners should ask which package and additional components apply to their equipment.
